A little about the artist...

Jabbi Delahaye

I am Jabbi Delahaye, a digital artist whose journey spans more than thirty years of creative exploration and over forty years of research into the deeper roots of African history, culture, and philosophy. My work stands at the intersection of two great traditions: the timeless legacy of the Renaissance and the living, evolving heritage of the African and Afrocentric world.

A Lifelong Artistic Journey

From the pioneering days of digital art in the 1990s to today’s most advanced AI-driven systems, I have worked with every major tool and platform available. Over the decades, I have learned not simply to use these technologies but to master them treating them as instruments of imagination rather than shortcuts.

My goal has always been constant: to create exhibition-grade artworks that balance innovation with tradition. Each piece is the result of study, refinement, and disciplined craft. For me, technology is only powerful when guided by vision, integrity, and creativity.

Afrocentric Roots and Inspirations

 
Alongside my digital practice, I have dedicated more than four decades to the study of African history, culture, and aesthetics. Two guiding principles inform my work:
• Sankofa: to look back and retrieve wisdom from the past in order to move forward.
• Maat: truth, balance, and justice.
 
My influences extend across key Afrocentric movements:
• The Harlem Renaissance, where art reshaped identity and pride.
• The Civil Rights and Black Liberation movements, where creativity became a force of resilience and transformation.
• Pan-African philosophies, oral traditions, and symbolic systems, which preserve ancestral wisdom while inspiring future generations.
 
Through these influences, my art seeks to honour the past, give voice to the present, and imagine futures rooted in dignity and creativity.
 

Renaissance Influence

 
I am equally inspired by the Renaissance masters, whose dedication to beauty, truth, and technique remains timeless. I study their use of proportion, symbolism, and philosophy, their integration of art, science, and spirituality.
 
For me, Afrocentric traditions and Renaissance ideals are not opposites, but parallel sources of wisdom. Both demand excellence, continuity with the past, and the belief that art can deepen human understanding. My work is a dialogue between these traditions—Afrocentric depth and Renaissance discipline—translated through the tools of the digital age.

A Commitment to Quality

Whether I create a digital oil painting rooted in Renaissance composition or an Afrocentric piece guided by Sankofa and Maat, my standard remains the same: museum-grade artistry.

Each artwork is crafted with patience, care, and attention to detail, designed to endure, to resonate across cultures, and to contribute meaningfully to the story of art.
